My tryst with wordsmithing

stadium run

The weekend before last I did my first 36 hour stadium run. Turned out to be my second 100 miler run (161.5km), the distance curtailed by tendinitis on right knee (it is ok now!).  Stadium runs are special, for they seem to get me to a state of zen many times doing the run. Here is my experience expressed creatively as a poem titled “stadium run”.

Just ordinary

Osho says being ordinary or average is the most difficult. It happens only when you are mindful, when you in the ‘now’.  When you see the simple ordinary things for what it is, it is indeed extraordinary. I guess Sai Nellore triggered this with his posting of a Osho video today on this. I recollected one of Osho’s lectures that I had listened many many years ago on the same. When I went on my…

Belief

“Believe that you will find a solution and belief in the solution is key to solving life’s problems” . The shadow play by streetlight during my night dog walk triggered my muse resulting in “Belief”.

Ardhanareeshwara

During my bicycle night rides as part of training, I see transgenders on the highway beckoning drivers. Every time I see them, despite a moment of titillation, I feel a deep pang for them. Shunned, discarded, they seem to live for others. Here is my creative take on this titled “Ardhanareeshwara”. I commenced this poem a few weeks ago, the muse took a long break, waking up yesterday night. Details on Ardhanareeshwara at http://bit.ly/2K8sUcp

subjects

Enjoy a creative on a student with straight aces, who picked up the paces, when application of logic in the subject of love turned tragic. A light hearted humour titled “subjects”.

He was very alone

We read more words, have less conversation, see lots of videos, but see less eye-to-eye, shut our ears with headphones and talk much less. We take more selfies, but find it harder to understand oneself. We interact digitally with a poke, a wave, an emoticon and less with a gentle touch. Now we have BOTS, avatars, agents that befriend us to entice us into a relationship. In the barrage of interactions everyday in today’s world…

Shrug it and soar

Today evening when I was cycling in my neighbourhood, an eagle swooped down to pick up something from the road. A scooterist hit the eagle and went away. I stopped to help the eagle, he struggled a bit, shook himself and flew away soaring into the skies, not needing my help. Amazing. Wow, wish we could all shake ourselves and soar away when we get hit in life. Profound learning today. – “Shake it and…
