To all the Malnad Trail Ultra participants, enjoy the ‘Date with nature’. All the very best guys. Sadly will miss it, though my heart will here tomorrow.

runner dervish
Last Sunday I ran the 24hour stadium run at Kanteerva Bangalore. With only minimalist training consisting of a few HM runs/walks, I relied on mindfulness and preventive stretches. And it worked! A new personal best at 139.6 kms and fit as a fiddle at the end.
Enjoy the experience as a poem “runner dervish”.
Noxious run
Run for Green Energy event on the World Environment day was held at the pristine campus of GKVK with 1000s of trees spewing Oxygen and lovely birds chirping. Outside the NCBS campus ~100 petrol/diesel cars quietly rest after discharging noxious gases ferrying the participants. Jai sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#136)
Rainy season
The weather of namma Bengaluru is brilliantly suited for long distance running training. The rolling terrain and climbs of namma Bengaluru outskirts is great for cycling training. In the rainy season, namma Bengaluru also offers great open water swim training on the roads. See, triathlon training is sorted out here. Just get a mouth mask in addition to a face mask and you are good to go. Training the sillycon way. #sillyconCity (#114)
Everything is a marathon
Namma sillycon city is an amazing place for running. We have a marathon every weekend. They start at 5KM and some of them are 42.195km. The amazing sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#86) Note for non-runners : The marathon has an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26.219 miles; 26 miles 385 yards)- From WikiPedia.

The magic of trail ultra
The weekend before last is when I did my 100KM run at Hennur Bamboo Ultra. Keen on experimenting with the idea that I should be able to get up and run this distance, I did low mileage training with just one run of 43KM a week before the ultra. And it did work. As usual the magic of Hennur trail happened in the cool night. With Armin van Buuren’s “A State of Trance 2019” music belting in my ears, I was in a flow doing a fast paced non-stop walk (~8:30 pace) of 22KMs.
Long trail runs are magical and here it is as “The magic of trail ultra”.
Many miles on Two feet
Five guys decided to enjoy the Indian summer by running from Bangalore to Karwar, the Deccan 300 miler run. Sushil ji Balakrishnan Sadasivam and Babu George and Rajendra Jaiswal were targeting 300 miles, while Gjm Reddy planned a 200 miler. All of them did it except RJ who had to call it off midway. Kudos to all you guys, for you, the highway is child’s play! Two wonderful people Ankur Bhasin and Shiva in the…
A state of trance
When the world synchronises the simple act of running with trance music in the ears, magic happens. The head lightens up and seems to expand, gently floating and illuminating the insides, then merging you with the universe. Here is one of my experiences word-smithed as “A state of trance”.
Bangalore Mountain Festival
Last Sunday (Jan 27) was the Half Marathon run at “Bangalore Mountain Festival”, an event at Nandi Hills. Trail runs are very special to me as I meld with nature, staying mindful, totally in the present. It is fascinating to run in hilly terrains with rocks carefully poised over each other gently looking at you, nudging you to climb over them and supporting you all the way, smiling at you as you bound away from…
