He had a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant opposite the garbage dump on the side street. The business was barely making ends meet. Now he took pictures of his food and made them look alluring. He peppered the writeup with organic, fresh and halal. Then he registered with the food delivery apps. Now nobody knew where he was and his business grew manyfold. Photoshop transformed his business. His chef continued to dig his nose while cooking. The…
Pavement is for wimps
When the road was white topped, the pavement was also re-done. In the busy evening traffic, he walked happily on the road unmindful that vehicles may accidentally mow him down. After all, old habits die hard. Just another idiot in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#28)
Gated communities
On the outskirts of Bangalore are lots of gated communities. Right now they only have gates. The high life of sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#27)
Quick reaction
Traffic lights are fascinating. This is where you see the amazing reaction times of Bangaloreans. Just as the light turns green, honks commence. Just damn quick! These guys should be pilots. The amazing bunch of idiots in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#26)
Payment options
He had all the payment options in his purse and phone – Credit/debit/smart cards, PayTM, PhonePe, BHIM, AirtelMoney,OlaMoney etc. There was just one small problem, he just did not enough money in his bank account. The high life of sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#25)
Well connected
He was extremely well connected with everyone around the world. Via mobile, email, messengers, social media. He just did not know who his neighbour was. The high life of sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#24)
Bare wires
In my neighbourhood is a display of electrifying nudity. As the evening turns dark, someone in the vicinity brings the the two bare hot wires on the electric pole together and they unite with a spark, lighting up the road. KEB does not believe in switches. (KEB is the power distribution company) Just another idiotic thing in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#23)
Stopped in the middle
He loved his wife so much, that he stopped in the middle of a busy one way road so that she could step out and buy fruits from the roadside vendor. He turned on the emergency lights so that others behind would respectfully go around his car. Just another idiot in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#22)
Pavement family
Amidst the busy humdrum of traffic live a family on the pavement. From the Hindi belt, here in Bangalore now to making a living, they make lovely plaster-of-paris artefacts that they sell on the pavement. As I cycle to work, I see their two young children playing on the pavement, happy and content. And the bunch of frustrated well-to-do guys in their air-conditioned cars a few feet away. Just another day in the sillycon city….
Bus commute
Commutes in Volvo buses of Bangalore are fun. The mellowed but ‘hear-able’ koochi-koo conversation of young ladies, the terse family talk of the middle aged man, the conversation of out-of-state folks so loud they can be heard directly and the always-on tech support of young IT folks who revel in staying busy. Real life ‘mobile’ learning ! Just another bunch of loveable idiots in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#20)
