He was extremely well connected with everyone around the world. Via mobile, email, messengers, social media. He just did not know who his neighbour was. The high life of sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#24)
Bare wires
In my neighbourhood is a display of electrifying nudity. As the evening turns dark, someone in the vicinity brings the the two bare hot wires on the electric pole together and they unite with a spark, lighting up the road. KEB does not believe in switches. (KEB is the power distribution company) Just another idiotic thing in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#23)
Stopped in the middle
He loved his wife so much, that he stopped in the middle of a busy one way road so that she could step out and buy fruits from the roadside vendor. He turned on the emergency lights so that others behind would respectfully go around his car. Just another idiot in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#22)
Pavement family
Amidst the busy humdrum of traffic live a family on the pavement. From the Hindi belt, here in Bangalore now to making a living, they make lovely plaster-of-paris artefacts that they sell on the pavement. As I cycle to work, I see their two young children playing on the pavement, happy and content. And the bunch of frustrated well-to-do guys in their air-conditioned cars a few feet away. Just another day in the sillycon city….
Bus commute
Commutes in Volvo buses of Bangalore are fun. The mellowed but ‘hear-able’ koochi-koo conversation of young ladies, the terse family talk of the middle aged man, the conversation of out-of-state folks so loud they can be heard directly and the always-on tech support of young IT folks who revel in staying busy. Real life ‘mobile’ learning ! Just another bunch of loveable idiots in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#20)
20kms = A movie
Boarding the Volvo bus to home, he sat down and plugged the mobile charger into power socket above. Next he filled his ears with in-ear microphones. Settling into the seat comfortably, he was all set for the evening’s cinematic experience. 20km, 2:30minutes, ONE movie. Just another idiotic commute in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#19)
Manual lights
The automatic traffic lights were on and everything was smooth. The morning duty traffic police came and switched the lights to manual control. Then the traffic jams happened. Just another idiotic thing in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#18)
A whole lot of selfies
At the cantonment station were a bunch of young college kids. The train was delayed by nearly an hour. The girls spent it productively by taking selfies and groupies in cheerful poses and puckered faces with each one’s camera, and exchanged pics with each one. All the boys could do was show ‘yo’ with a variety of contortions. A TB of data must have been created for the AI/ML programs to learn. Just another bunch…
New age apps
He took the Ola to work. A late day at office and tired of navigating the traffic to home, he went to an Oyo. To appease the late night hunger it was Zomato. At peace now, he watched a movie thanks to Jio. Next day it was Practo as he was pretty messed up! Long live the mobile! Just another idiot in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#17)
Zoom to wait
He revved his bike and zoomed away only to arrive quickly at the traffic jam and wait for eternity! Just another idiot in the sillycon city. #sillyconCity (#15)
