Recently a judge in Indian high court comments to media reporters: “The peacock is a lifelong celibate. It does not have sex with peahen. The peahen gives birth after it gets impregnated with the tears of the peacock. A peacock or a peahen is then born.” And I thought I knew biology! Inspired by the new age biology, here is my twist on this! The esteemed judge said: Peacock uses it only to pee. Curious…
Brief about beef
Recently in an esteemed educational institution in India, a beef party (eating beef) was held that turned into a fisticuff between students due to violation of religious sentiments, this was politicised and sensationalised by the media. This created a furore requiring the director of institution to step up and contain the situation. Here is is a limerick on this, as a statement from the director of the esteemed institution, purely is figment of my imagination,…
Demonetisation
Months ago, the govt of India embarked on a bold program of demonetisation of Rs 500/100 notes overnight. It was expected to be a program to stem corruption and leapfrog growth. Feelings were mixed and still challenged now. I am no economist nor a serious analyst, have been inspired by this event to explore creatively the ‘mono rhyme’ style of poetic expression. “Achhe din” in Hindi language means “Good days”] Months ago there was lot…
LEL Training
Fri and Sat evening turned out be a dampener for LEL training. After the Friday fiasco of four punctures and spending quite a few hours in the rain. Sat evening ride though short, turned out to be another wet ride. Sunday morning was fixing the tubes, tyre and the bike! Found the tyre was busted, riddled with small holes all the way. Sunday was a tiny redeemer as I did a 103km training ride on…
No more tubes
Dang, this friday night turned to be a couple of whimpers that ended with a bang! Three punctures with the last one ‘a bang’ aborted the Chitradurga ride, all this happening even before I reached Hebbal (15km). Two punctures one after another, and I decided to abort, as I had no spare tubes. Continuous rain all through and this should be the culprit. Thought at the least I should walk the 14+ kms after using…
Evening showers
My musings over the beautiful wet ride (cycling) yesterday evening from work. God after a busy day of playing dice sat on his couch with snacks on the tray and heavenly vice, shoulders lazily slouched. Fingers on lamp switch continuously twitch on off, on off. The light flickers, lightening streaks visible on earth. Snack stuck in throat a cough so guttural, gushing liquid visceral a big thunder clap a sudden cloudburst. God closes his eyes…
The garbage collector
During my morning run I notice her Fresh jasmine garland on plaited hair gentle fragrance wafts Colourful glass bangles on both hands soft tinkling ripples Peace and contentment on her face quiet calm radiates she goes about her work mindfully collecting garbage from each house ’tis another day of collecting garbage from each house emptying each into her push cart mindfully she does In the world of rotting waste broken items dirty stuff She is…
The Hospital
For Poetry contest on the word “Hospital” , poem to be exactly 50 words https://allpoetry.com/contest/2684570-Hospital In the basement lifeless bodies in honeycomb shelves calmly waiting to be buried. On the top floor tiny ones in warm sacs eagerly pushing for their first breath. In between young and old in clean beds biding their time to go home. Circle of life in Rectangular building “The Hospital”.
Ride to heaven
A friend of mine passed away in a cycling accident in the mountains with the family in the car behind witnessing this. A beautiful dawn unfolds in the hills Weather so cool soothing the head Sun very gentle warming the heart Air mildly misty caressing the body Just right for a morning ride Off I went clad in Lycra Up the inclines across the bends Rhythmic rotations Wispy exhales Gentle breeze Swaying tree Mind free…
Do you know why?
Submitted for contest https://allpoetry.com/contest/2684559-teach-me–Impress-me–verbally-undress-me– Many folds, crevices & fissures the brain has- Do you know why? ‘Tis the place to hide bad memories bury unpleasant incidents and stuff allegations. Tis where the bad ones decay and dissolve Forming a rich base to create new thoughts. Like how waste decomposes to become rich manure. They say Vent it out, don’t bury it Cry & let out tears, Don’t suppress. But I prefer to bury it deep…
