Greedy for a long run meant Saturday was used up in running the (training) FM. And a cricket match at my son’s training academy on Sun meant an extended time duration for cycling on Sunday. And so it was, a relaxed 73km ride to Hessarghatta in 3.5 hours. A nice active recovery from yesterday’s 42.25km run. The weather on Sunday was wonderful, no semblance of heat all the way until 1:45pm. About fifteen kms…
Peace anywhere
People meditate, sing, go to temple, run, cycle to find peace. Well you can find peace anywhere. It is not the environment, it is about you. Here are three stories that illustrate this. Story #1 Near my house, there are lots of construction workers, as the road is being widened. A little baby is sleeping peacefully inside the hammock made out of the saree tied to the tree branch. The gentle wind, warm sunshine caresses…
The lady and the goat
#1: “The lady in the car” The commute to office last Friday was interesting. As a cyclist, I enjoy watching reactions of people at stop lights. As the light turned green, the lady in car revved up and moved into the centre of the road whilst on the other side continued crossings showing his outstretched palm to the car indicating stop. He was enjoying his slow jaunt across the chaos. And the lady kinda stood…
Dog & chicken story
Enroute to my office is an blacksmith shop. The owner’s dog is always on a leash and tied to an iron pole. He sits majestically and watches the mad traffic. Quietly and peacefully. Never irritated about the fact that he is permanently tied to the pole. Adjoining this is a chicken shop with many cages filled with birds. Some of them are busy enjoying their feed, whilst some of them cock their head at the…
My first Ultra
After a 20km morning run last Thursday with Raj Vadgama, I was keen to do a longer run next day with him (my max is HM with a lone 25km). And what a day it was! Started the Friday morning run with Raj Vadgama at Cubbon park later moving to Kanteerva Stadium. This is made of two loops, a smaller one around the covered indoor stadium and the large one around the open stadium. Later…

Two morning runs at Tokyo
1: Sep 26, 2014 Got up real early today. A two day rest HM and I was keen to do a run. And a lovely cool inviting weather. Out at 5:30AM from the hotel room and off for the run @5:45. Empty roads. A quick warm up run for a km and then all the way down the road and then onto the footbridge. The footbridge connecting all the four reads at the intersection is…
Beyond Jangamakote
A nice 100km ride on Sat AM. A brilliant Saturday morning just ideal for a ride. Onto Kolar highway, turned left at Hoskote towards Jangamakote. It is beautiful countryside with fields on both side of the road with Tomatoes, Spinach, Grapes, Cauliflower. Men and women in the field planting new seedlings whilst some are harvesting And property developers messing up the area attempting to create gated communities. Govt schools function on Sat and it is…
Ma can we go to the park and play?
Crescent moon today too. But the star has moved to the centre of the crescent. I am late for the dog-walk. Moon goes home. As I step out for the run, I see two young teens, in conversation. The boy holding a small teddy bear with a red heart. Enjoying the togetherness after the school exams, I presume. As I jog and turn, a young frisky puppy (my friend) with his master sees me and…
TCS10K
A wonderful day for a run today morning at the TCS10K. And at the designated time, a sea of people chug outside the stadium. And I am one of them. After jostling and keeping in sight the 50-min bus, I get right in front of the bus at the 3km mark. And a tiny pain surfaces in the knee. Not paying much attention to that, I continue and as I turn at the 4 km…
